Profesor recibe subvención Fulbright

ROCHESTER — Mary Jane Curry, an associate professor from the University of Rochester Warner School of Education, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture and conduct research next year in Chile.

Profesor recibe subvención FulbrightCurry will travel to Universidad Mayor in Santiago in the spring of 2014 to teach in the Department of English Language Teaching in the School of Education, according to a press release. While in Chile, Curry will conduct research on the experiences of Chilean scholars writing for publication in English.

Currently, Curry oversees programs at Warner for foreign language teacher education and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

She also leads a new project, known as the Western New York Collaboration for English Language Learners (Project CELLS), which is funded by a five-year National Professional Development grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of English Language Acquisition. Project CELLS aims to help school personnel better serve English-language learners as well as increase the number of teachers certified in TESOL.
